Death can come at any time but would you be ready?

“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment”, (Hebrews 9:27).

During the closing ceremony of the funeral service, the M.C. emphasized the need to be ready for death anytime, because it will surely come. And when it comes, will you be in right standing with the Living God?

What is the background? Our church member whose father’s funeral we attended didn’t see it coming. It was reported that he came to make arrangements for his elder brother’s funeral, which was scheduled to today. He left only to die a week ago, which meant his funeral was included with his brother’s. I don’t think he ever imagined or dreamt that he was planning his own funeral. This was why the pastor for the ceremony appealed to everyone to be ready at anytime, by stressing the need to surrender one’s life to Jesus Christ and was echoed by the M.C. too.

After we did what we came for, we were about to board a white bus as we were in a hurry. But a sister in the Lord had earlier said she wanted to buy few things, which she was doing. With many people rushing for the same bus, if we continued boarding, she would have been left behind as we were many and we didn’t want that. So I asked my fellow brethren to get down and wait for our sister, so that as we all planned, we would go together. Thankfully, we got another bus as all of us wouldn’t fit into the white one. So we left and the driver picked 2 guys on the way, which meant the bus was overloaded with one extra person. I will write another post about indiscipline on our roads. We were ahead of the white bus as we took off before them.

We were on the Accra-Aflao road coming to Accra when a woman passenger received a call that the white bus had an accident at Sege and 2 people died. Folks, it could have been us, but we were spared by the mercies of the Almighty God. But, have you seen it? I don’t think any of the 2 victims who came for funeral in Mepe thought today would be their last days on Earth.

Folks, death can come at anytime and when it comes, it is judgment that will follow as the Bible says. Are you in right standing with God? Have you given your life to Jesus Christ? If you haven’t, please do.

“Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.” – 1 Timothy 1:17
