Let us not lose focus: preach the message of salvation in this crisis

I remember the year 1999 very well. It was a year with so many doomsday messages about the world ending in 2000. We read about many people selling or giving away their assets and properties in 1999. Some of us believed and knew at that time that the world would not end in 2000, because that would contradict the words of our Lord Jesus Christ when He said, “But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” Matthew 24:36-37. The year 2000 came and the world didn’t end. As if that was not enough, some sects using Mathematics did some calculations and were so sure that the world would end in 2012 on a certain date. As they say, the rest is history. But, I can assure you based on the Word of God that the world would end one day and no one would have known the exact time, because as Jesus said,

“For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. Matthew 24:38-39,44.

What am I trying to say? This too shall pass. But what we need as Christians to be doing at this time is to not lose focus but continue to preach the message of salvation, which is in Jesus Christ alone. What people need at this time is encouragement and hope. And there is no better way to do that than to lead them to Jesus while advising people to abide by government’s #Covid19 restrictions. It shall be well.
