Lying is an abomination to the LORD

Lying: The devil has succeeded in belittling the sin of lying. Lying also refers to as deceit basically means telling falsehood, i.e. not telling the truth. In other words, any time you don’t tell the truth but says otherwise, you’re committing the since of “deceit”.
If you go through the book of Proverbs, lying is among a few set of sins that the Bible declares God hates and is an abomination to Him. The Bible declares, “Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight”, (Proverbs 12:22).
When you take delight in deceiving people and you don’t find anything wrong with it, I can definitely tell you who you are. You are a child of the devil. Yes! That’s what Jesus would call you. Listen to His word in John 8:44: “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

The next time you deliberately tell a lie, remember that you’re doing the bidding of the devil and in fact you’re his child. Hollywood and the media have made light of the sin of deceit like the sin of fornication, but it’s not a light thing before God.

The good news is that once you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Personal Saviour, the Holy Spirit, who is the Spirit of truth dwells in you. As you spend your time meditating on God’s word, you’re empowered to resist the devil and tell the truth. The key lies in submitting to God, i.e. His word. “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you”, James 4:7.

My message for you today is that stop lying. Stop deceiving people. Repent! Lying is not a small sin before God.
